Recreational Dance Classes
Ages 2–18
The recreational dance program at The Movement Dance Studio is like no other! Students as young as two years old are welcomed into this incredibly positive environment that encourages students to be their best selves in and out of the dance studio! Our dancers participate in classes specializing in Ballet, Tap, Music, Acrobatics, Hip Hop, and more! Dancers are introduced to a variety of dance and movement concepts, vocabulary, and proper technique. Each recreational class emphasizes a fun, upbeat environment with age-appropriate music. All our recreational classes perform in our annual spring recital.
Preschool
Bitty Ballet
This 30-minute class is designed for our youngest preschool level students who are just beginning their dance journey. Each class consists of interactive songs, stretches, ballet basics, coordination exercises, and dance games! This class is a great way to get your little one used to being in a classroom setting to practice social skills such as listening and learning as well as physical skills from touching their toes to leaping high in the sky!
■ Dancewear Fee $80 (includes leotard, tights, and ballet shoes)
■ Monday 5:00-5:30, Thursday 4:30-5:00, Friday 4:30-5:00
Preschool
Princess Playtime
Does your child love Queen Elsa or singing “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” at the top of their lungs? Then this is the class for you! Each Princess Playtime class begins with 15 minutes of acting and dancing exercises, followed by working on a different piece of choreography each month. (Examples include Under the Sea, Be Our Guest, and Some Things Never Change!) Students enrolled in this class will be enjoying imaginative play while learning dance terminology and etiquette!

■ Monday 4:30-5:00, Wednesday 5:00-5:30, Thursdays 5:00-5:30
Preschool
Boys Creative Movement
Does your little boy love to move to music? Does he have lots of energy and enthusiasm? Then this is the class for you! We explore different forms of moving creatively using musically guided activities and learn the discipline that every dance student requires to show proper respect to peers and teachers alike! We create a safe environment for students to expel any excess energy, and encourage students to flourish socially as they continue working together to find the joy in their movement!

Preschool
Combo Cuties
This 45-minute dance class is designed for young dancers to begin their mastery of various dance techniques. Each class consists of strengthening and stretching exercises, ballet technique, tap technique, and dance games! This class is both a fun way to keep students active and an outlet for them to learn the importance of respect, encouragement, and hard work.
■ Dancewear Fee $105.50 (includes leotard, tights, ballet shoes, and tap shoes)
■ Thursdays 5:30-6:15
Preschool
Disney Ballet
This hour-long dance class is designed for young dancers to begin their mastery of various dance techniques, and to foster each individual dancer’s creativity. Each class consists of strengthening and stretching exercises followed by ballet technique. The second half of class will consist of acting exercises, followed by working on a different piece of choreography each month (examples include Under the Sea, Be Our Guest, and Some Things Never Change)! Students enrolled in this class will be enjoying imaginative play while learning dance terminology and etiquette! This class is both a fun way to keep students active and an outlet for them to learn the importance of respect, encouragement, and hard work.

Elementary Level 1
Pre-Ballet 1
This hour-long class is for our students who are ready to begin taking their dancing to the next level! With strengthening and stretching exercises and ballet technique—both at the barre and in center—students in this class are sure to improve by leaps and bounds! Students will begin to learn ballet terminology as well as the importance of ballet etiquette in a positive and encouraging environment that pushes them to be their very best while celebrating every victory along the way!
■ Dancewear Fee $65 (includes leotard, tights,and ballet shoes)
■ Wednesdays 6:30-7:30, Fridays 4:30-5:30
Elementary Level 1
Music and Movement
This hour-long class focuses on two of the biggest influences on any child’s development: music and movement. The first half of class consists of various acting and dancing exercises, followed by working on a different piece of choreography each month (examples include Under the Sea, Be Our Guest, and Some Things Never Change)! The second half of class will be a music lesson that follows the curriculum guide set by “Music for Little Mozarts: a children’s introduction to piano, music, and singing”. Using whimsical characters such as Mozart Mouse and Beethoven Bear, students in this curriculum will learn the basics to reading music, recognizing rhythms, and learning about music history in a fun, creative way! Piano teachers have been using this curriculum for over 20 years, and it has proven to be extremely effective!

■ Wednesdays 5:30-6:30, Fridays 5:30-6:30
Elementary Level 2
Pre-Ballet 2
This hour-long class is for our students who are ready to begin taking their dancing to the next level! Elementary Level 2
Beginner Musical Theater
Each week, students will participate in vocal warm ups and learn the basics of singing, participate in various acting exercises, and learn new choreography. This class will give students confidence in their performance abilities as it will encourage them to use their face, body, and voice to tell a story on stage. This class also helps students’ ability to pick up choreography quickly, as repetition will help train their minds to do so!
